Final experimental procedure:
EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE:

Research question: How does different types of impurities in water affect the evaporation rate?

Hypothesis: The water with sand will evaporate the fastest, followed by the plain water, then the salt solution and the sugar solution

Materials used:

Beakers

Water

Sand

Salt

Sugar

Measuring cylinder

Experimental procedure:

1. Fill 3 beakers with 40ml of water and 1 with 50ml of water.

2. Add 10g of salt, sugar and sand respectively in the three beakers containing 40ml of water. (Label the beakers)

3. Stir the liquids.

4. Every 8 hours, pour the water into the measuring cylinder to measure the amount of water left.

5. Tabulate the results

Independent variable:

Sugar, salt and salt

Dependent variable:

The volume of water left every 8 hours.

Constant variable:

Amount of each solution

Time of experiment

Temperature of surroundings ( outdoors)

Humidity of surroundings ( windy conditions)

Surface area of solution (same beakers)
