NEW PROPOSAL:

Topic of investigation :

A

Effect of different impurities on the rate of evaporation

Observations made

We will prepare three similar beakers containing 250ml of water. Then we will add 10g of salt, sugar and food-colouring into the three beakers respectively. Stir to make sure they dissolve in water. Over a period of half an hour, I will measure the weight of the beakers at every five-minute interval and record them on a table. I will prepare three of these set-ups and place them in room temperature, the oven and in the fridge to see in which environment will give us results that we will be able to conclude from.

B

Research Question

How does different impurities in water affect the rate of evaporation?

C

Hypothesis statement

Salt will slow down the rate of evaporation the most out of the three impurities.

D

A short summary of research done on the area of investigation

Impurities will slow down the rate of evaporation. Non-volatile impurities lower the vapour pressure of liquids.

Vapour Pressure:

SUMMARY: The pressure of the vapour evaporated from the solution.
